In 1909, the percentage of cases of mistaken diagnosis for
the whole of London was: for Scarlet Fever 16 8, compared with
6'1 in 1908; for Diphtheria 16.8, compared with 22.2; and for
Enteric Fever 37.9, compared with 39.1.
Cerebro-spinal Fever.
Five cases of Cerebro-spinal Fever were notified during the
year (one from Clapham, one from Tooting, and three from
Wandsworth), compared with four in 1909.
All the cases died, two from Cerebro-spinal Meningitis, one
from Posterior-basic Meningitis, and two from Tubercular
Meningitis.
In London 115 cases of this disease were notified during the
year, compared with 111 in 1909.
19 deaths were registered as having been caused by Meningitis
(two in Clapham, two in Putney, five in Streatham, three in
Tooting, and seven in Wandsworth).
