Table LXXXVIII. shows the number of factories, workshops,
domestic workshops, and workplaces on the Register at the close
of 1907, the number removed from, the number added during
1908, and the number on the Register at the end of 1908. The
number of workrooms in workshops is also shown.
The factories and workshops are divided into dressmakers'
and milliners' premises, laundries, and miscellaneous premises;
and the workplaces are divided into laundries and miscellaneous
premises.
Of the total number of factories where women are employed,
70 are laundries and 17 other factories, while of the total workshops,
viz.:—514, 313 are dressmakers and milliners, 149 laundries
and 52 other workshops, a decrease of 10 dressmakers and milliners
and of four other workshops, and an increase of 35 laundries,
compared with 1907.
