This is the highest aggregate issue for one year since the establishment of the libraries :—

It is also gratifying to record the increasing use which is made
of the more educative and technical sections of the libraries.

This is particularly noticeable at the Tate Library where the issue
of books for home reading in the classes of literature other than Fiction
and Juvenile Literature numbered 43,853 volumes.
The number of books issued in the several classes of literature at
each library is given in the following table :—
