13s. id. per acre. Of the remainder (2 acres, 3 roods, 10 poles)
25 poles formed part of the sites of the roads above-mentioned,
leaving a piece of land containing 2 acres, 2 roods, 25 poles to be
added to the slop shoot. The first cost of this land (at the abovementioned
rate of £598 15s. 4d. per acre) was £1,590 9s. 6d.
The nett cost has been £850 10s. 3d., being at the rate of
£320 3s. 1 1d. per acre.
132. Until the land to be added to the shoot is required for the
deposit of street refuse it has been added to the recreation ground
and was thrown open to the public on the 12th November last.
Arrangements have been made for the playing of football, cricket,
and other organised games in the extension of the park temporarily
by scholars of the County Council schools in the neighbourhood
and others.
