Table LXXXV. shows the number of factories, workshops,
domestic workshops, and workplaces on the Register at the close
of 1906, the number removed from, the number added during
1907, and the number on the Register at the end of 1907. The
number of workrooms in workshops is also shown.
The factories and workshops are divided into dressmakers'
and milliners' premises, laundries, and miscellaneous premises;
and the workplaces are divided into laundries and miscellaneous
premises.
Of the total number of factories where women are employed,
67 are laundries and 14 other factories, while of the total workshops,
viz. :—493, 323 are dressmakers and milliners, 114 laundries
and 56 other workshops.
The total number of workplaces on the Register is 336, of
which 132 are laundries, and 204 miscellaneous premises, chiefly
dressmakers and milliners.
