Scarlet Fever.
1,330 cases of Scarlet Fever were notified during the year,
compared with 1,069 in 1906, 1,494 in 1905, and 744 in1904.
205 of these were in Clapham, 82 in Putney, 378 in Streatham,
318 in Tooting, and 347 in Wandsworth.
1,128 or 84.8 per cent. of these cases were removed to hospital
where 20 died, and 202 or 15.2 per cent. were treated at
home with two deaths.
The total number of deaths was 22, of which four were in
Clapham, one in Putney, five in Streatham, six in Tooting, and six
in Wandsworth.
The percentage of cases removed to hospital is the highest
recorded, as in 1906, 83.8 per cent. were removed; in 1905, 84.1;
in 1904, 81.6; in 1903, 78.1; in 1902, 75; and in 1901, 70.6 per
cent.
The case mortality was 1.65 per cent., compared with 1.78 in
1906, 1.87 in 1905, 1.74 in 1904, and 2.19 in 1903.
The mortality among cases removed to hospital was 1.77 per
cent., compared with 1.79 in 1906, and among those treated at
home .99, compared with 1.72 in 1906. The mortality among the
home treated cases is much lower than among those cases treated
