The birth-rate in each of the sub-districts, with the exception
of Tooting-, is lower than the decennial average. In Clapham it
was 4'37, in Putney 5-52, in Streatham 2'8o, and in Wandsworth
3'73 lower, while in Tooting it was '57 higher, and in the whole
Borough 3*22 lower. In 1906 the rate was 2-73 under the decennial
average, and in Tooting it was as much as 5-68 above this
average.
The rate for 1907 is the lowest rate yet recorded, and is "77
per 1,000 under the rate for 1906.
The birth-rate for London was 25'68, compared with 26'6 in
1906, 2702 in 1905, 27'8i in 1904, and 28'6o the decennial
