Table LXXXI. shows the number of factories, workshops,
domestic workshops, and workplaces on the Register at the close
of 1905, the number removed from, the number added during
1906, and the number on the Register at the end of 1906. The
number of workrooms in workshops is also shown.
The factories and workshops are divided into dressmakers'
and milliners' premises, laundries, and miscellaneous premises;
and the workplaces are divided into laundries and miscellaneous
premises.
Of the total number of factories where women are employed,
63 are laundries and 13 other factories, while of the total workshops,
viz. :—494, 325 are dressmakers and milliners, 119 laundries
and 50 other workshops.
The total number of workplaces on the Register is 338, of
which 146 are laundries, and 192 miscellaneous premises, chiefly
dressmakers and milliners.
