On account of outbreaks of Measles the following schools
were closed for the periods mentioned:—
(1.) Hitherfield Road School, Infants' Department. Closed
from the 22nd March to the 2nd April.
(2.) Eardley Road School, Infants' Department. (Classroom
D). 26th June to the 16th July.
(3.) St. Andrew's, Polwarth Road, Infants' Department.
20th July till after the holidays.
Table XLII. shows the number of cases of Measles and other
non-notifiable diseases notified by the teachers in the public
elementary schools in the Borough.
In all 3,810 cases were notified, compared with 3,352 in 1905,
and 2,291 in 1904.
1,453 of these were cases of Measles, 634 of Chicken-pox, 549
of Whooping Cough, 806 of Mumps, and 368 of Ringworm.
There was an increase in the number of cases of Measles
notified as also of Chicken-pox, Mumps and Ringworm, but a
slight decrease in the number of cases of Whooping Cough.
With regard to Measles, 336 were notified from schools in
Clapham, 92 in Putney, 396 in Streatham, 99 in Tooting, and 530
in Wandsworth.
