10 complaints of emission of black smoke were received from
the Public Control Department, London County Council, with regard
to 12 premises, and 10 complaints with regard to 28 premises from
the Coal Smoke Abatement Society.
The majority of the premises were under the observation of this
Council's inspectors at the time the complaints were received, and the
owners of the other premises were visited by the Sanitary Inspectors
and warned.
175 soil pipes were repaired, 70 of these being in Streatham and
36 in Putney, compared with 269 in 1904.
The number of unclassified nuisances was 772, compared with 943
in 1904. 260 of these were in Clapham, 92 in Putney, 153 in
Streatham, 173 in Tooting, and 94 in Wandsworth.
DISINFECTION.
Until the 21st September the whole of the disinfection was'carried
out at the Disinfecting Station at Bell Lane, Wandsworth, but on the
22nd September the new Disinfecting Station at Tooting was opened,
and since that date the work has been carried on there. Plans of this
station were included in my Report for 1903.
