The above were the cause of 86.4 per cent. of the total deaths,
compared with 85 in 1904, 85.8 in 1903, 83.9 in 1902, and 85.3 in
1901.
Cancer.
The total number of deaths from Cancer and other malignant
diseases during the year 1905 was 224, 95 of males and 129 of females,
a decrease of 18 compared with 1904, and of 11 compared with the
decennial average corrected for increase of population.
The corrected death-rate was .78, compared with .92 in 1904, .98
in 1903, and .90 in 1902.
The number of deaths and the death-rate in each sub-district
were as follows:—Clapham 47 and .73; Putney 29 and 1.02 ;
Streatham 71 and .80, Tooting 11 and .47; and Wandsworth 66 and
.80.
One of the deaths occurred at one to five years, one from five
to 15 years, three from 15 to 25 years, 136 from 25 to 65 years, and
83 over 65 years.
