The birth-rate in Table I. of the Local Government Board's
Tables is calculated from the uncorrected population and is lower
than the rate calculated from the corrected population.
The birth-rate for London was 27.02 per 1,000, compared with
27.81 in 1904 and 28.37 in 1903, and for England and Wales 27.2 per
1,000, compared with 27.9 in 1904 and 28.36 in 1903.
The rate for the year is the lowest yet recorded, and is 2.06
under the decennial average.
