A Formalin chamber has also been provided between the two
chambers, for articles that cannot be dealt with in the steam
disinfector.
In the wash-house, the machinery has been supplied by
Messrs. D. & J. Tullis, Limited, of Southwark Bridge, and consists
of wash trough, rotary washing machine, steam hydro,
2½ horse power steam engine, and a mangle.
The total cost of buildings and machinery was £3,873 5s. 1d.
The tar paving in this road has been broken up and re-laid
and the kerb re-laid at a total cost of £72 5s. 6d.

Negotiations are proceeding for the acquisition of strips of
land in front of several properties on the north
side of High Street, Clapham, adjoining Manor
Street, for the purpose of setting back the projecting buildings to
the general line of frontage.

High Street, Putney, at the corner of Gardener's Lane, has
been widened from 37 feet to 60 feet, and Gardener's
Lane from 17 feet to 40 feet. New 12 inch
by 8 inch granite kerb has been laid on the west
side of High Street and on both sides of Gardener's Lane, and the
footpaths paved with York and artificial paving, respectively. The
carriageway in both streets has been paved with creosoted deal
blocks on cement concrete.

The total cost of the work was as under, viz. :—

The paving works were carried out by the Council for the
London County Council, the Borough Council paying one-half the
cost in High Street and one-quarter in Gardener's Lane.
The kerb has been taken up on both sides of the road, and
re-laid on cement concrete at a cost of £26 1s. 8d.
