The birth-rate given on Table I. of the Local Government Board’s
Tables is calculated from the uncorrected population and is .52 lower
than the rate calculated from the corrected population.
The birth-rate for the whole of Loudon for 1904 was 27.81,
compared with 28.37 in 1903, and for England and Wales 27.9,
compared with 28.36 in 1903.
The rate for this Borough is lower than it has been since 1900,
but is .04 above the decennial average, while the rate for the whole of
London is the lowest recorded, and is 1.7 below the decennial
average.
The rate of natural increase, or the excess of births over deaths,
was 13.28 per 1,000, compared with 14.54 in 1903. This rate was
lowest in Putney, viz.:—879, and highest in Wandsworth, viz.:—
1727.
