The necessary replacement of a large number of books, which
constant use had rendered unfit for further circulation, absorbed
a considerable proportion of the book funds during the past year.
After deducting replacements, and volumes worn out and withdrawn
from circulation, the stock at the 31st March, numbered
30,798 volumes, distributed as follows: —
