periodicals are provided at the Tate Library, Streatham, and
124 at the Ramsden Road Library, Balham. Several of these
publications are presented by their respective publishers and
other donors.
A specially-built case, containing a fine specimen of ancient
Japanese armour, kindly presented to the Tate Library by
Mr. R. W. Essex (a Member of the Committee), has been placed
in the Magazine Room.
Committee:—
The Divisional Committee appointed last year by the
Libraries Committee of the Council to administer the affairs of
the public libraries in the parish of Streatham, were re-elected for
another twelve months. Mr. W. F. Massingham has been
appointed Chairman of the Divisional Committee for the current
year.
A list of the donors of books, etc., is given on page 27.
In conclusion, the Committee take this opportunity of stating
that they will be glad to receive gifts of books, periodicals, etc.,
not only for the Streatham and Balham Institutions, but also for
the new public library which, through the kindness and generosity
of the Mayor (Councillor W. J. Lancaster, J.P.,) is being erected in
the parish of Tooting.
