zymotic During the year, this sub.district has been
Diseases, remarkably exempt from diseases of this
character.
scarlet Fever. During 1900, 25 notifications were received,
compared with 123 during 1899, and 47
during 1898.
The type of the disease was mild. No fatal case
occurred.
The number of cases notified was equal to one per
1,000 of the population There has been no epidemic,
of the disease at any time throughout the year. More
cases were notified during the month of March than
at any other time.
26 cases were notified, and 21 of these were
Diphtheria removed. hospital, five eases were treated
at their homes and of these two proved fatal. Four
fatal cases occurred among the 21 which were removed
to hospital. This is equal to a case mortality of 23
per cent. During the previous year the case mortality
was 21 per cent.
The number of cases notified corresponded to 1.1 per
1,000 of the population, and the mortality to .25.
Nearly all the cases occurred during the spring and
winter months.
Enteric Fever 11 cases were notified and six were removed
to hospital. One of the hospital cases ended
fatally. This gives a case mortality of 9 per cent.
The mortality from Enteric Fever was 04 per 1,000.
