Ages at Death.
Of the total deaths, in the district 25.9 per
cent. were of infants under one year, 36 per
cent. of children under 5 years, 39 per cent. of persons
from 5 to 65 years, and 24 per cent. of persons over 65
years.
The infantile death-rate for the entire district was
143 per 1,000 births, compared with 146 per 1,000
births in 1899, and for the sub-district as follows:—
Clapham 144 per 1,000 births.
Putney 146 „ „
Streatham 116 ,, ,,
Tooting 178 ,, ,,
Wandsworth 162 ,, ,,
For the whole Metropolis the rate was 158, compared
with 166 in 1899, and 167 in 1898.

Diseases.

the entire district, corrected for external and internal institutions,
and also shows the number above or below
the corrected decennial average.
