all causes, the corrected and uncorrected death-rate, and
the rate of natural increase for the year, as well as for
the 10 preceding years.

The death of parishioners in outlying institutions
must, however, be added to arrive at the real deathrate,
and one which can lie compared with that of the
Dther districts in the Metropolis and with the Metropolis
itself.
The total number of deaths to be added is 241, an
mcrease of 36 compared with the year 1896. 137
jf these deaths occurred in the Union Infirmary, 68 in
general and special hospitals, and 36 in the various
hospitals of the Metropolitan Asylums Board.
Table II. shows in detail the number of deaths in
the various institutions, as well as the causes of death.
