TOOTING.
Population.
The population of Tooting in the middle of
the year 1897, estimated in accordance with
the method adopted by the Registrar General, is 7,611.
Births & Birth
Rate.
The births registered during the year numbered
215, of which 109 were males and
10o females. This is the largest number recorded since
a separate record has been made of the vital statistics of
this sub-district, and produces a rate equal to 28.2 per
1,000 persons living during the year.
Deaths & Death
Rate
During the year, 352 deaths were registered.
Of these, 176 were of males and an exactly
equal number were of females.
Having regard, however, to the large number xjf
non-parishioners dying in the sub-district in the Metropolitan
Asylums Board Fever Hospital and other
institutions, it is necessary to correct the statistics before
proceeding to arrive at the death-rate.
