Ages at Death The proportion of the deaths at the various
age groups to the total deaths was as follows:—
Under 5 years 38.3 per cent.
From 5 to 65 years 37.9 ,,
Above 65 years , .. 23.8 ,,
The Infantile death-rate, or the number of deaths
of infants under one year of age per thousand births was
142; and this compares with 138, 143, 146, 113 and 131,
in the previous five years.
