Many of the causes of death under these headings
differ so little from their averages, that they require no
comment.
The deaths from Respiratory diseases on the other
hand, were largely in excess of former years, and contributed
127 deaths to the total mortality. No less than
32 of these were ascribed to pneumonia. The 21 deaths
from Influenza were complicated with pneumonia, as
were great part of the deaths from measles. In this
connection, respiratory diseases were accountable for
nearly one-third of the total mortality.
