The birth.rate, calculated from the total births
Birth.rate.
registered and the foregoing estimated population,
was 34.60 per 1,000 persons living. The
Rate of Natural rate of natural increase, represented by the excess
increase, of births over deaths, was 17.9 per 1,000.
The total deaths registered during the year
Deaths. numbered 4,192,—2,068 of males and 2,124 of
females. The number of deaths and the death.rates of
the several sub.districts are compared in the following
table:—
