Diseases of this class prevailed more extensively and
were more fatal than in any previous year since the Metropolis
Local Management Act came into operation,
particularly Small-pox, Scarlatina and Fever, which three
diseases terminated fatally respectively in 25, 35, and 21
instances. 8 persons died of Measles, 2 of Diphtheria, 12 of
