It will be seen that several of the Streets which were dealt
with last year under the Housing and Town Planning, etc.,
Act are included in the above list, as it is found necessary to make,
at least, one annual inspection of this class of property. In all,
561 inspections were made and 258 Notices were served. In a
number of houses it is found necessary to serve two Notices, one
on the owner for defects in sanitary fittings, etc., and one on
the occupier for dirtv cisterns, yards, w.c., basins, etc., or for
keeping animals under such conditions as to be a nuisance.
Therefore, the proportion of Notices served to the number of
houses inspected cannot be taken as an indication of the proportion
of insanitary houses found.
