ZYMOTIC MORTALITY.
Included in the Zymotic death-rate are the deaths from the seven
principal Zymotic Diseases, viz., Small-pox, Measles, Scarlet Fever,
Diphtheria, Whooping Cough, "Fever" (including Enteric Fever,
Typhus Fever, and Simple Continued Fever), and Diarrhoea. In
Table IV the deaths from each of the Zymotic Diseases (including
Erysipelas, Puerperal Fever, and Influenza) are given.
The Zymotic Death-rate for the Borough was 1.69 per 1,000
per annum, as against 0.50 in the preceding year.

Bv comparison with the preceding year there were more deaths
from Measles, Whooping Cough, Scarlet Fever,, Erysipelas, and
Diarrhoeal Diseases, but somewhat less from Influenza and EntericFever.
The great summer heat and exceptional drought were
indirectly responsible for the increase in the Diarrhoeal group of
diseases.
