All the slaughter-houses are retail, with the exception of two
(which are both retail and wholesale), and the estimated weekly
number of animals killed in Lambeth private slaughter-houses is
(roughly) as follow:—
Cattle 53
Sheep 768
Pigs 68
Total 889
Calves occasionally.
COWHOUSES.
There were, in 1899, 24 registered Cowhouses in Lambeth
Parish, and of these two (Railway Arch, East Street, and 1,
Change Alley, West Norwood) are 110 longer in use.
During 1900, 22; applications have been received for renewal
of licenses, and all were granted by the L.C.C., the Vestry objecting
in no single instance. The licensed premises are as follow : —
