During 1913, no school was closed on account of diphtheria,
but exclusion of “sore throats”. was resorted to in
the case of 4 schools (4 classrooms), wherein 4 cases of
diphtheria occurred, a total of 12 children who were not
allowed to resume attendance until certificates (based on
bacteriological examination) had been furnished stating that
they were free from infection.
One school was disinfected during 1913 in connection
with an outbreak of diphtheria.
The age and sex incidence and mortality from diphtheria
cases notified in the Borough of Lambeth during 1913 areas
