Recuperative Holidays
The Area health staff continued to be responsible for dealing
with applications for recuperative holidays and during 1963 151 applications
were received compared with 170 the previous year. Of these
98 were approved.
Chiropody Service
At the beginning of the year two chiropodists were employed
on a sessional basis for a total of eight sessions a week. Early
in 1963 two more chiropodists were appointed for an additional three
(sometimes four) sessions a week, and in December another
chiropodist was appointed for a further one session a week. Thus
at the end of 1963 there were five sessional chiropodists working in
the Area, carrying out 12½ sessions a week (8½ four elderly persons
and 4 for children and expectant mothers).
