Distribution of Welfare Foods
This work, which was taken over from the Ministry of Food in
June, 1954, continued throughout the whole of 1955. Very few complaints
were received from beneficiaries concerning the quality of the
welfare foods, and each was referred to the Ministry of Health who
investigated and subsequently reported the result of analysis to the
complainant and this Department. The Women's Voluntary Service
continued to give valuable assistance in both Boroughs by undertaking
distribution from the homes of some of their members for the convenience
of the public.
The following table shows distributions in the Area during the year:—

Priority Dental Service for Mothers and Young Children
The dental service as a whole is discussed later in this report under
the school health service.
The following table gives details of attendances made and treatment
given during the year. Taking into account the fall in the number of
expectant mothers who attended ante-natal clinics during the year,
the number examined by the dental officers is equivalent to a 2%
increase over 1954.
