MOSELLE POLLUTION
In order to carry out continuous inspection of the surface water
drainage system of the Moselle catchment area the Council appointed
a drainage inspection assistant at the end of 1954. He reports defects
to the district sanitary inspector who then inspects and takes the
necessary action for remedying the defects.
During 1955 this assistant inspected the drains of 5,341 premises
and carried out 1,228 re-inspections. Defects were found in 462
