BAKEHOUSES
The three underground bakehouses in the Borough continue to be in
use, as they were certified in September, 1949 as suitable for that purpose
for a further period of five years. They are inspected frequently
to see that suitable hygienic conditions are maintained. There are
twelve other bakehouses in the borough.
SLAUGHTERHOUSES
The Live Stock (Restriction of Slaughtering) Order, 1940, continued
in force and no slaughtering was carried out during the year.
No licences to slaughter were issued.
EDUCATION
A short series of lectures on "Clean Food" were given to the public
under the auspices of a local women's association. In spite of wide
publicity through the press and by posters on public transport the
attendance was most disappointing.
