North Middlesex Hospital.—The number of beds at the North
Middlesex Hospital at the end of 1942 was 1,294. Of these, 100 were
maternity beds.
The number of maternity cases from Hornsey admitted in 1942
was 159, as compared with 127 in 1941.
Hornsey Central Hospital.—The Hospital has 72 beds,
including 12 for the Emergency Hospital Scheme.
There were 1,014 in-patients treated during the year, of which
814 belonged to the Borough. In addition, 4,097 out-patients were
treated. The total number of treatments given was 27,000.
The Council subscribes an annual sum of £200 to the Hospital
funds.
Hornsey Deanery Association.—An annual sum of £50 is subscribed
by the Council to this Home for Unmarried Mothers in
Eastern Road.
OPEN-AIR SWIMMING POOL.
The number of persons using the Pool was 95,933, as compared
with 79,585 in 1941. The season-ticket holders numbered 229—an
increase of 102 on the figures for 1941.
The satisfactory condition of the water is maintained by a system
of filtration, aeration and chlorination, and regular inspections are
made by the Medical Officer of Health.
