Note.—The following arrangements have been adopted by
the Registrar General for the statistical treatment of Non-civilian

war conditions:—
(1) Non-civilian deaths will not be assigned to local administrative
areas, but will be tabulated for the whole of
England and Wales and included as a separate class in
the annual reports issued by this Office.
N.B.—Non-civilians are defined as all males
serving in H.M. Armed Forces. They do not include
women serving in auxiliary corps, nor any members of
A.R.P., auxiliary fire-brigade or other similar auxiliary
or civil defence services.
