BYELAWS RELATING TO HOUSES INTENDED OR USED
FOR OCCUPATION BY THE WORKING CLASSES AND LET
IN LODGINGS OR OCCUPIED BY MEMBERS OF MORE
THAN ONE FAMILY.
The Byelaws were confirmed on 13th May, 1930, and will
be superseded in 1937 by amended byelaws confirmed on 5th
May, 1937, and made necessary by the new standards laid down
in the Housing Act, 1936. The present byelaws apply to any
lodging-house in which the owner resides and not more than one
family is lodged. Parts of these byelaws, involving structural
alterations, do not apply to any lodging-house the rent of which
is for the time being controlled by the Rent and Mortgage
(Restriction) Acts. 19:20. 1923 and 1933.

Note.β€”In regard to washing accommodation, Byelaw 15 (c),
the baths and wash-houses erected by the Borough Council in
High Street, Hornsey, opened on the 14th April, 1932. and
extended during 1934 by additional slipper baths and wash-house
accommodation, are still very popular and are satisfying a long
felt want, particularly in the immediate neighbourhood.
