The Zymotic death-rate is equal to 0'38 per thousand of the
population.
Considering the Zymotic diseases in detail, it is seen that
there was no death from Small Pox. There ware two 'deaths
from this disease in 1902; there have been none sines that year.
There were 2 deaths from Scarlet Fever. In recent years
Scarlet Fever has not been an important cause of mortality, the
highest number of deaths in any one year being 6, in 1906.
Diphtheria caused 8 deaths.
There were no deaths from Enteric Fe.ver.
There was 1 death from Infective Diarrhcea.

There were 6 deaths from Measles and 13 from Whooping
Cough.
Infantile Mortality.—During the year 1918 there were 64
deaths of infants under one year of age, as against 73 in 1917,
and an average of 86 for the ten years 1908-1917.
The infantile mortality for the year 1918, i.e., deaths u:,der
one year of age per 1,000 births, is 61 in Hornsey. In 1917 the
infantile mortality rate was 70 and the average rate for the twenty
yeans 1898-1917 was 76, the highest being 106 in 1899, and the
lowest 46 in 1916.
The Infantile Mortality for England and Wales is 97, and of
the 96 Great Towns, 106.
