Births.—The number of births recorded during 1914 was
1,529. This is an increase of 104 as compared with the number
of births registered in 1913. In the preceding twelve months
(1913 compared with 1912) there was an increase of 40 in the
recorded births.
Fifty-four of the births were illegitimate (42 in 1913).
Twelve of the births occurred at the New Edmonton Infirmary
and 39 at other Institutions and places outside the Borough.
The birth-rate for the year was 17.0, as compared with 16.16
in 1913.
