The average yearly increase in population for the last 12 years
is 1,055. The increase for the last year being 2,638, is considerably
more than twice the average yearly increase.
The "natural increase" of population during 1913, i.e., excess
of births over deaths, was 601. In the preceding year the
"natural increase" was 545, so that this year there is a gain in
this respect.
The estimated population at the end of each Quarter of 1913
was as follows:—

The following table shews, for each Ward of the Borough, the population estimated at the middle of the years, for the years 1912 and 1913, with the increase or decrease during the 12 months.

This year each of the Wards, with the exception of Stroud
Green, shews an increase in population. Highgate is at the top
with an increase of 759, followed by West Hornsey with 601 and
Crouch End with 482. Muswell Hill and North Haringey have
also considerable increases. East Hornsey, which last year had a
loss of 33, has now a gain of 177.
