The fall in the death-rate as compared with 1912 is due to a
saving at the two extreme periods of life, viz.: —24 fewer deaths
among infants and 32 fewer deaths of persons over 65 years of age.
On the other hand the number of deaths between 1 and 64 years of
age is greater by 40 this year as compared with 1912. Nevertheless
there is a nett saving of 16 deaths.
The following Chart shews the principal causes of death :—
