This is equal to an average yearly increase of 2,464, so that
the increase (1,575) for the twelve months 1908-1909 is considerably
below the average yearly increase of the last 8 years.
The "natural increase" of population during 1909, i.e.,
excess of births over deaths, was 721.
As the actual increase was 1,575, a little less than one half
the actual increase of population is attributable to "natural
growth" of the 1908 population and a little more than half is due
to immigration, so that the Borough has gained 734 new residents
from outside during the year.
