Infantile Mortality.—During the year 1909 there were 87
deaths of infants under 1 year of age, as against 95 in 1908, and
an average of 129 for each of the years 1899-1908.
The infantile mortality for the year 1909, i.e., deaths under
1 year of age per 1,000 births, is 57, the lowest yet recorded in
Hornsey. In 1908 the infantile mortality rate was 63, and the
average rate of the 15 years 1894-1908 was 91, the highest being
133 in 1895 and the lowest 63 in 1908.
The following table gives the number of infantile deaths and the mortality for each Ward of the Borough:—
