The principal causes of deaths in infants under one year of
age were as follows: —Premature Birth 22, Diarrœahal Diseases 20,
Debility 7, Convulsions 6, Pneumonia and Bronchitis 13, Suffocation
from over-lying 6.
Of these, the deaths from Debility, Convulsions and Diarrhœal
Diseases were probably largely due to improper feeding, and thus
in a sense were preventible.
