The number of monthly admissions varied from 17 in August
to 47 in November and the same number in December.
Scarlet Fever.
Number of cases notified in Hornsey 261

The proportion of cases removed to the Borough Hospital was
about 67 per cent. of the cases notified, being almost exactly the
same percentage as in 1904.
In addition to the 177 cases of Scarlet Fever admitted from
Hornsey, there were 54 cases of this disease admitted from Finchley,
and 46 from Wood Green, making a total of 277 cases of
Scarlet Fever admitted during the year.
There were 2 deaths from Scarlet Fever during the year, both
being Hornsey patients, the case mortality thus being 0.71 per
cent.
Diphtheria.

The proportion of cases removed to the Borough Hospital was
62 per cent. of the cases notified. In addition to the 95 cases of
Diphtheria admitted from Hornsey there were 17 cases admitted
from Finchley and 15 from Wood Green, making a total of 127
cases of Diphtheria admitted during the year.
Of these, 7 patients died, three of the fatal cases being from
Hornsey, 2 from Finchley, and 2 from Wood Green. The case
mortality was 5.3 per cent.
Several of the cases were in extremis on admission, and in 3
cases tracheotomy was necessary.
The following table gives the number of cases of Diphtheria
notified in Hornsey, with the death-rate; the total number of cases
of Diphtheria admitted to the Hospital (including both Hornsey
eases and others), with the mortality per cent. of the cases treated
in the Hospital: —
