By the instructions of the Public Health and Hospital Committee
I have drawn up and had printed a leaflet giving simple
directions as to the feeding and care of infants, and, by the kind
co-operation of the Lady District Visitors connected with the
Churches in the poorer parts of the Borough, a large number of the
leaflets were distributed in those homes where they were most
likely to prove useful.
Notification of Infectious Disease.—The cases of infectious
disease notified to the Medical Officer of Health during 1904
number 359, as compared with 309 in 1903, 466 in 1902 (excluding
cases of Chicken Pox), and 725 in 1901.

The following table gives the cases notified during the past years:—

The number of cases is 50 greater than in the previous year,
but, with the exception of 1903, is smaller than in any year of the
10 years preceding 1904.
62 cases of infectious disease were reported during the first
quarter of the .year.
60 cases of infectious disease were reported during the second
quarter of the year.
97 cases of infectious disease were reported during the third
quarter of the year.
140 cases of infectious disease were reported during the fourth
quarter of the year.
