On the 26th July, 1912, the Local Government Board issued a General Order
prescribing domiciliary treatment of insured persons suffering from tuberculosis.
This Order provided that until a Consulting Officer of a Dispensary approved by
the Board had been appointed the Medical Officer of Health should act in that
capacity.
By the end of the year only 5 applications for sanatorium benefit had been
forwarded to me. Of these, 1 soon removed to another district; in 2 cases, in
both of which no tubercle bacilli were found, arrangements were made for the
continuance of treatment at the Tuberculin Dispensary, in Kennington Road; in
1, I made arrangements for domiciliary treatment, and in the remaining 1, the
patient was advised to continue attending the Bloomsbury Dispensary pending
removal to Sanatorium.
