REP0RT
of the
SANITARY CONDITION OF SAINT MARY, ISLINGTON
FOR MAY, 1862.
No. LXII.
With the exception of February, up to the present time I have bad
every month to report a mortality considerably below the average. In
the four weeks ending on May 24th, the number of deaths of residents
in Islington only reached 188, which is 24 below the mortality of April,
and 30 below the corrected mean mortality of May for the previous sis
years, viz. 218. There have been also but few deaths from any form of
zymotic disease; only 25 were registered. Scarlatina appears to have
subsided, and at present no other malady has assumed an epidemic
character, although from the sickness returns measles appears to be on
the increase.
EDWARD BALLARD, M.D.,
Medical Officer of Health.
