Considerable space has been given in recent reports to the discussion of
the cause of this disease, and it need only now be stated that there is at present
no further light to be thrown on it; the fons et origo mali has yet to be found.

But it is some little consolation to know that in all civilised countries scientists of high eminence are endeavouring to discover and to devise a cure.
