It will Be noted that no cows or pigs were killed, which was the result of
the severe measures which had been adopted in previous years with these
animals, which were frequently found to be in a tuberculous condition.

It is difficult to know what is done with them now; no doubt they are taken elsewhere, but certainly they are not killed in Islington.

There were 27 slaughterhouses on the register which were found to be
usually well-kept, but the licensed one of them, towards the end of the year,
was not renewed because the premises had not been used for a period of over
nine months.
Year by year the slaughtering of animals has become les. and less, consequently
the slaughterhouses have not been fully used. Butchers now deal
largely in meat which has been slaughtered in public abattoirs elsewhere, as
well as in foreign chilled and frozen meat,
