INSPECTION OF FOOL).
The inspection is of two kinds: inspection to detect unsound meat, fruit
or vegetables, and inspection to discover adulteration. The former work is
undertaken by Inspector Wilkinson, and the latter by Inspector Burrell. Both
have been carried out for many years with very considerable success, and it
is not too much to say that there are few boroughs in the country where food
inspection has been and is so adequately performed.
Unsound Food.—Altogether 12 tons 2 qrs. 24 lbs. of food and unsound
stuffs were dealt with, the particulars of which are as follows:—
