INSPECTION OF HOUSES LET IN LODGINGS.
1,760 houses were inspected during the year, to which 11,230 visits were
subsequently made, so that the total visits amounted to 12,990.
These inspections resulted in 1,350 intimations being forwarded to the
responsible persons, which were followed by 217 Statutory Notices to insist on
the abatement of the defects that had not been remedied.
Altogether 5,278 sanitary defects or nuisances were discovered.
